Complex regional pain syndrome therapy

What is complex regional pain syndrome?

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain diagnosis involving pain and swelling in the extremities (arm or leg) as a result of injury. And the symptoms that the patient experiences are often out of proportion to the injury. The symptoms can be swelling, redness of the skin, pain, stiffness, temperature sensitivities, etc.

Treatment for complex regional pain syndrome

A whole-body approach must be considered when treating pain or dysfunction associated with complex regional pain syndrome. The assessment takes into account myofascial tension and body alignment, the patient’s body awareness, and the function of the autonomic nervous system. In addition to gentle hands-on treatment, patients will be instructed on exercises to restore tissue balance and calm their nervous system.
