Fibromyalgia Therapy

What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis to describe widespread pain often accompanied by fatigue, mood disorder, and sleep disruption. There are multiple tender points to be found in people with Fibromyalgia.  A tender point is an exquisitely tender point in the muscle upon palpation, and the pain is local to the tender point.

Treatment for Fibromyalgia

When treating pain or dysfunction associated with Fibromyalgia, a whole-body approach needs to be considered. The assessment takes into account of the myofascial tension and body alignment, the patient’s body awareness, and the function of the autonomic nervous system. In addition to gentle hands-on treatment, patients will be instructed on exercises to restore tissue balance and self-regulate their nervous system.
