Pain associated with physical trauma Therapy

What is pain associated with physical trauma?

Physical trauma is when one is exposed to a shocking and terrifying event to the physical body – either witnessing or experiencing it. One can develop both emotional and physical symptoms in response to the trauma; when the symptoms are intense enough, a diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder will be given.

Treatment for pain associated with physical trauma

A whole-body approach must be considered when treating pain or dysfunction associated with physical trauma. The assessment takes into account the tissue tension and body alignment, the patient’s body awareness and connection, joint mobility, and the function of the autonomic nervous system. In addition to gentle hands-on treatment, patients will be instructed physical and mindful exercises to restore the mind and body balance and calm their nervous system.
