Parkinson’s Disease Therapy

What is Parkinson’s Disease?

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder characterized by decreased dopamine availability in the brain, and the condition often involves tremors, rigidity in the muscles and joints, speech and balance changes, and slow movements.

Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease

When treating pain or dysfunction associated with Parkinson’s disease, a whole-body approach needs to be considered. The assessment takes into account the tissue tension and body alignment, the patient’s body awareness and connection, joint mobility, and the function of the lymphatic system and the autonomic nervous system. In addition to gentle hands-on treatment, patients will be instructed physical and mindful exercises to restore tissue balance and self-regulate their nervous system.
